Position
Math Supervisor
Primary FunctionAs a member of the administrative staff, assist the principal in the supervision and coordination of the total educational programs at LEAP Academy. Provides leadership in monitoring, designing, and implementing curriculum and continuous development and improvement of the instructional program.
Qualifications- Must hold a valid NJ Supervisor's or Principal's Certificate
- At least five years experience as a successful teacher.
- Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with an emphasis on educational administration, supervision and curriculum.
- Demonstrated leadership ability in working with students, staff, parents, teachers, administration and the community.
- Provides school-level leadership in monitoring, designing, and implementing curriculum.
- Assists in the formulation of a philosophy and objectives for the design, implementation, and assessment of the curriculum.
- Supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional services.
- Has a working knowledge of the N.J. Core Curriculum Content Standards and standards from the U.S. Department of Education and other national professional organizations.
- Meets regularly with the Lead Person and principals for teaching and learning.
- Assists in instructional supervision and in the evaluation of high school staff.
- Guides development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional services.
- Works with other administrators in analyzing standardized testing data and determining implications for curriculum and instructional practices.
- Maintains a curriculum library for staff use.
- Provides leadership in the continuous development and improvement of the instructional program.
- Provides staff leadership to ensure understanding of and promote the educational objectives of the district, and plans and administers programs of professional development activities for instructional personnel.
- Develops and implements a new teacher program that coordinates with the mentoring program to provide new teachers full access to the goals, beliefs, and instructional methods that exist at the heart of the LEAP Academy educational system.
- Prepares reports on the effectiveness and efficiency of curricula and instructional programs.
- Assists in the analysis of data used to evaluate student achievement as well as curriculum and program effectiveness.
- Supports the Chief Academic Officer and Principals.
- Establishes and maintains professional dialogues with instructional staff and observes teachers formally in their classrooms upon request of the principals and/or Chief Academic Officer.
- Provides leadership in optimizing staff usage to include transfers, tenure and retention decisions, and recommends positions necessary for proper implementation of curriculum.
- Performs other tasks and assumes other duties as they may arise from time to time assigned by the Chief Academic Officer.
The Supervisor of Math shall be responsible for other duties as assigned by the Chief Academic Officer and/or Chief Operations Officer/Lead Person to ensure the educational growth of the students of LEAP Academy.
Terms of EmploymentTwelve‑month contracted position; salary, hours and work year to be determined by the Board in consultation with the Lead Person.
EvaluationAnnually according to state statute, rule and Board Policy.
Starting Salary$85,000.00
