We are particularly keen to hear from individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people who are unable to access mainstream education due to a range of additional needs. These opportunities may also suit qualified teachers looking to move away from the traditional classroom environment, supply teachers seeking greater flexibility, or experienced support professionals looking for rewarding one-to‑one work.

The young people we support may have a range of needs, including:

  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
  • Trauma and adverse childhood experiences
  • Medical needs
  • Behavioural and communication difficulties

Through tailored 1:1 tuition and mentoring, you will play a vital role in helping learners re‑engage with education, build confidence, develop resilience, and achieve positive outcomes.

What the Role Involves

  • 1:1 tuition in core and foundation subjects
  • SEMH and SEND‑focused mentoring
  • Academic intervention and catch‑up programmes
  • Emotional wellbeing and confidence‑building support
  • EOTAS and Alternative Provision programmes
  • Support with engagement, attendance and reintegration

Most sessions are delivered face‑to‑face within a student's home or an agreed community setting, enabling truly personalised support.

Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Knowledge of SEND, SEMH, or alternative provision environments
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Ability to travel across Somerset and surrounding areas
  • Access to a vehicle is highly desirable
What We Offer
  • Flexible work to fit around your availability
  • Ongoing referrals and long‑term opportunities
  • Competitive rates of pay, dependent on experience
  • Meaningful work that makes a genuine difference to young people's lives
  • A supportive team and growing network of education professionals

If you are passionate about helping vulnerable learners overcome barriers to education and reach their full potential, we would love to hear from you.
