Mathematics Teacher (Grades 9-12)
Camden's Promise Charter School is looking for a certified Mathematics High School Teacher. Essential performance responsibilities include developing and administering a mathematics curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives. The teacher should promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning. They will develop lesson plans and instructional materials for the subject area, translating lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
The teacher will teach knowledge and skills in mathematics, including concepts such as real and imaginary numbers, formulas, calculations, and geometry, and promote creative thinking and analysis in all related subject areas. They will design learning activities to demonstrate the application of mathematics to everyday existence and problem-solving. Ongoing assessment of student learning and progress will be conducted, and instructional methods will be modified to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs.
The teacher will maintain familiarity with district and Connecticut State standardized tests for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement on such tests. They will continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or by conducting research. The teacher will organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Parental involvement in students' education will be encouraged, and effective communication with students and parents will be ensured. The teacher will ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. They will coordinate with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
The teacher will select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, and other supplies and equipment and maintain inventory records. Additional duties will be performed as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
