Special Education Teacher

The Black Horse Pike Regional School District has an opening for Special Education Teacher for the  school year. Qualifications include a valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate Teacher of Students with Disabilities or Teacher of the Handicapped, highly qualified teacher in English preferred, demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods, ability to maintain a positive learning environment, strong interpersonal and communication skills, required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status, and working knowledge of computers desired.

Performance responsibilities include achieving State core curriculum content standards and District educational goals and objectives by promoting active learning and skills development in the classroom, developing lesson plans and instructional materials and providing opportunities for individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student, setting specific objectives wherever possible in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans and carrying through presentation to effectively achieve these objectives, assessing student academic progress and personal growth toward stated objectives of instruction, maintaining records of student's educational progress in class record books and/or Board approved forms and summarizing these marks for reporting purposes, identifying student needs and cooperating with other professional staff members in assessing and resolving learning problems, establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conductive to learning, budgeting class time effectively, communicating with parents through conferences and other means to inform them about the school program and to discuss student progress, devising written and oral assignments and tests that require analytical and critical thinking as well as the reproduction of facts, supervising students in out-of-classroom activities as assigned, maintaining professional competence and continuous improvement through inservice education and other professional growth activities, participating in school-level planning, faculty meetings/committees and other school system groups, making effective use of community resources to enhance the instructional program, upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy, and performing other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned.

Salary based on education and experience on the BHPEA Salary Guide - $60,500 - $102,350. This position includes health benefits, dental benefits, EAP services, access to wellness and discount programs.
