Requirements and Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • Must possess a valid New Jersey Department of Education Career and Technical Education Certificate for Automotive Technology Endorsement Code 4182 .
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the field of collision repair and refinishing technology.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification preferred.
  • Possess or willing to obtain Cooperative Education Coordinator-Hazardous Occupations endorsement
  • Must possess a valid driver's license as well as current insurance and a vehicle with valid registration.
  • Required criminal history background check, physical, and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

    JOB GOAL:

    The teacher shall teach the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards and Industry Based Standards in accordance with the curriculum adopted by the Board of Education with the end goal to allow students to become industry based certified (ASE) upon completion of the program.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To implement by instruction and action the district's educational goals and objectives by outlining exactly what the students are expected to learn.
  • To meet and instruct classes as assigned by selecting a variety of relevant materials, resources, and technologies that support instructional goals and promote student learning.
  • To prepare for assignments by consistently displaying a thorough understanding of content specific instructional practices.
  • To utilize lesson plans and instructional materials through the use of effective questioning strategies. Encourage students to engage in active reasoning and lead them in developing questions and answers on their own.
  • To encourage students to set and maintain standards of behavior needed to achieve success in the classroom.
  • To maintain a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom by clearly defining student and teacher expectations and roles in the classroom.
  • To provide for continuous evaluation of student progress consistent with district established goals and policies.
  • To maintain student records and other pertinent data as determined by the district.
  • To facilitate students' progress and growth toward stated objectives of instruction within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
  • To conform to all OSHA rules and regulations regarding shop safety.
  • To establish cooperative relations and effective communications with staff and parents.
  • To uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.
  • To participate in faculty meetings and curriculum development programs as required and approved by the district.
  • To participate in professional development and other professional growth activities.
  • To make a reasonable effort to maintain the well-being of students and the security of school property.
  • To provide sponsorship of student activities approved by the district as assigned.
  • Perform other duties which may be within the scope of his/her employment and certification as assigned by the principal.
  • Meet all CTE program requirements such as hosting 2 advisory meetings per year, inputting student CTE data into Genesis, developing community partnerships for internships/apprenticeships.
