CAMDEN CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT

TITLE:
Adult Basic Education Test EXAMINER (ABE)

The Superintendent invites qualified and interested candidates to apply for the position EXAMINER Test ABE.
Across the District, our staff maintain a clear focus on ensuring that every student in the city is enrolled in an excellent school that meets his or her unique needs. The District believes in the power of high expectations and the extraordinary potential of our students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 2. Approval by the American Council on Education.
  • 3. Experience in CASAS testing, counseling, training or teaching.
  • 4. Required criminal history background check, physical and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

REPORTS TO:

Administrator

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage CCSD Adult Basic Education Testing processes and procedures

  • 1. Manage the ABE and Evening Test Centers in accordance with regulations set by American Council on Education and N.J. Department of Education.
  • 2. Maintain the security of all test materials.
  • 3. Prepare annual test schedule in accordance with ABE grant guidelines.
  • 4. Develop evening schedule for students needing testing.
  • 5. Conduct Test Sessions for component of the program.
  • 6. Inventory test materials before and after each test session.
  • 7. Pre-register examinees for test sessions.
  • 8. Prepare mailings of secure test materials and obtain appropriate signatures.
  • 9. Prepare and maintain database of test histories for all registrants.
  • 10. Maintain inventory of test supplies and materials.
  • 11. Prepare monthly and annual statistical reports for ABE Program.
  • 12. Package test materials for mailing within regulated timelines.
  • TITLE:

    ABE Test EXAMINER
  • 13. Advise examinees of options before and after test sessions.
  • 14. Provide testing for GED candidates with disabilities.
  • 15. Inventory all materials and return them to the GED Testing Service at the end of the contract year.
  • 16. Respond to public inquiries.
  • 17. Prepare public announcements for GED Test Center and provide information sessions to civic groups, adult educators, and high school counselors about the GED Tests.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Part-Time, Evening - 9 hours per week, no benefits, non-tenured.

EVALUATION:
The ABE Examiner will be evaluated by the Program Administrator.

SALARY: $45.00 per hour

The following environmental conditions are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this position.

  • Possible exposure to a range of childhood and adult illnesses.
  • Occasional exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Work performed in heated, air-conditioned, ventilated facilities.
  • Moderate to high at times, noise level especially during school hours, assemblies or events.
  • Frequent interruptions from calls, walk-ins and urgent requests.
  • Possible exposure to cleaning agents, instructional materials, and equipment-related chemicals.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

Under New Jersey's "New Jersey First Act" (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7), all employees of New Jersey public school districts must maintain bona fide New Jersey residency as a condition of employment. Candidates must already reside in New Jersey or establish residency within the required timeframe after hire. Current employees who were hired on or before September 1, 2011, are exempt from this requirement and may continue to reside outside the state.
