A teacher in the Camden City School District serves as a classroom leader who works to provide exceptional instruction that affords all students the opportunity to excel academically and meet core standards. The English as a Second Language (ESL) Evening Program Teacher brings content‑specific expertise to instructional planning and delivery, equipping adult or continuous education students with the skills necessary to become informed, successful citizens in a global economy.

This position specifically requires providing high‑quality whole group and differentiated instruction to ESL students across all language proficiency and functioning levels.

Candidates must be fully available during evening hours to support the program's schedule requirements.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid New Jersey Instructional (Teacher's) Certificate in English as a Second Language (ESL).
• Instructional Delivery Expertise:
  Demonstrated ability to successfully provide both whole group and deeply differentiated instruction to ESL students spanning all functioning and language proficiency levels.
• Prior experience teaching low‑income students in an urban setting (strongly preferred).
• A valid driver's license with current insurance and valid vehicle registration.
• Required background clearances including criminal history background check, physical examination, and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

• Serving as a classroom leader by providing high‑quality, whole group and differentiated instruction to ESL students across all functioning levels during evening hours.
• Setting rigorous academic and behavioral goals for students and actively investing students in achieving these goals.
• Implementing and effectively modifying instruction aligned to the district's educational goals by focusing on high standards and achievement for all students.
• Designing and implementing high‑quality, thorough lesson, unit, and long‑term plans that equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to master daily objectives.
• Co‑planning with Special Education Teachers when necessary to ensure that the academic and behavioral needs of each student are met.
• Continuously tracking student achievement data and utilizing data to inform instructional planning, adjustments, and delivery.
• Preparing, leveraging, and delivering constructive feedback to students aimed at improving their academic and language performance.
• Consistently implementing and enforcing rules and consequences in the classroom setting and program‑wide.
• Providing continuous evaluation of student progress consistent with district‑established goals and policies, and clearly communicating progress to all necessary stakeholders.
