Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

Holtec International, a global turnkey supplier of equipment and systems for the nuclear, solar, geothermal and fossil power generation sectors of the energy industry, is seeking to add an Electrical Engineer to their SMR-300 engineering team.

The I&C Engineer is responsible for the design and analysis of safety and non-safety related I&C systems for the SMR-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR), regularly interfacing with the mechanical, nuclear, and electrical engineering teams for I&C design and consultation. This I&C Engineer applies his or her knowledge and experience, industry best practices, regulatory guidance, codes and standards, and good engineering judgment to ensure the design is compliant with International regulatory criteria and industry best practices.

• Setpoint, loop calibration, and instrument calibration tolerances
• Perform instrument vendor selection and vetting
• System analysis
• Licensing conformance evaluations
• Read, interpret and develop logic diagrams
• Process Controls design
• Develop Control System Descriptions for plant systems
• Review and provide I&C insight into P&t
• Read, interpret and develop logic diagrams, Instrument, and I/O Lists
• Support Human Factors analysis of plant systems
• Perform sizing and specifying I&C equipment (transmitters, operators, control valves, switches, etc.)

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, I&C, or related engineering discipline from an ABET accredited college or university.
• 2–5 years of I&C engineering experience, or equivalent.
• Solid working knowledge of I&C design methods, tools, and regulatory requirements.
• Produces clear technical documents and design deliverables with minimal editing.
• Communicates effectively with team members and contributes to meetings.
• Demonstrates sound judgment on routine engineering problems with supervision.
• Organizes workload to meet deadlines; beginning to prioritize tasks independently.
• Adapts to changing project requirements and environments.
• Collaborates well in multi-disciplinary teams.

• 2–5 years of hands‑on I&C design or support in power generation environments.
• Experience contributing to I&C system design (e.g., neutron flux monitoring, protection systems, radiation monitoring, integrated control systems).
• Growing familiarity with nuclear regulatory guidance (e.g., NUREG-0800 Ch. 7 or 18, IEEE 603, IEEE 7-4.3.2, RG 5.71).
• Exposure to Human Factors analysis and/or cyber security in I&C contexts.
• Experience applying relevant codes and standards (IEEE, IEC, ISA, EPRI).
• Demonstrated ability to support system testing or commissioning.

Annual compensation based on skills and experience ranging from $90,000.00 to $. Additional compensation earned through incentive structure.
