Thermal Analyst
The Thermal Analyst will conduct mechanical design and analysis of spent nuclear fuel storage and transportation casks, high-density spent nuclear fuel storage racks, Small Modular Reactor (SMR) thermal-hydraulic evaluations, and heat exchangers.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thermal performance evaluations of spent fuel casks and spent fuel pools
- Conduct multiphysics simulations, integrating CFD results with structural mechanics and nuclear departments
- Conduct design and performance evaluations of heat exchangers
- Prepare and review licensing reports, calculation reports, and computer code validations
- Build 3D thermal models of various dry storage systems
- Participate in meetings with clients and government regulators
Requirements:
- Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
- Experience with/demonstrated knowledge of fluid mechanics and heat transfer
- Experience with/demonstrated knowledge of computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
- Experience with/demonstrated knowledge of thermal systems design analysis
- Experience with/demonstrated knowledge of leading or contributing to projects involving conjugate heat transfer, multiphase flow, or transient simulations using technical tools CFD, analytical modeling, experimental validation
- Direct, hands-on experience developing, or applying turbulence models to engineering problems
- Experience with/demonstrated knowledge of MATLAB, Python, Solid Works, ANSYS FLUENT, Workbench, and FORTRAN
- Experience with/demonstrated knowledge of multi-phase flows
Compensation:
Base annual salary $120,390 with standard company benefits.
