Job Description

This Systems Software Engineer will design, build, and deliver a wide range of safety‑critical, cyber‑secure power solutions to military customers, leading or participating in all stages of the systems/software development life cycle (SDLC).

System Engineering portion:
Ensure the final system meets or exceeds customer system requirements. Work closely with electrical, mechanical, software, and test engineers to capture system requirements and develop traceable contract SDRL documentation, customer specifications, and operator’s manuals. Develop proposals, project schedules, and participate in customer reviews of design and test artifacts.

Software Engineering portion:
Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and systems. Create formal software design and test documentation traceable to system requirements. Build high‑reliability, safety‑critical, cyber‑secure software with built‑in test features for mission‑critical power systems and switch gear, spanning from low‑level embedded DSP or ARM controllers (ASM/C/C++) to GUI design in C#, or other GUI‑based languages.

IRAD Development may include hardware and software prototypes for proof‑of‑concept efforts involving embedded software with built‑in test features for integration with hardware and support for final qualification testing.

Essential Functions
  • Lead and represent the organization on technical aspects of assigned projects, including peer reviews and resolution of difficult technical issues.
  • Coordinate system‑level requirements internally and among subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Support evaluating, planning, and estimation of tasks.
  • Generate design review materials and communicate design decisions.
  • Adhere to budget and schedule commitments.
  • Provide technical supervision and training/mentoring to lower‑level engineers.
  • Develop subsystem architecture artifacts, including block diagrams, functional allocations, interfaces, and timing diagrams.
  • Prepare system and subsystem level specifications.
  • Generate test plans for systems and subsystems to ensure validation of requirements.
  • Create documentation in accordance with internal and/or customer standards.
  • Identify risks and develop migration plans.
  • Conduct trade‑off analysis and strategy.
  • Represent the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve Systems Engineering design, validation, and qualification processes.
  • Work comfortably in a multi‑disciplined engineering group to achieve results.
  • Handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Travel up to 10% as required.
  • Obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
