The Senior Manager, Azure Cloud Architecture & Engineering leads a team of cloud architects and engineers responsible for designing, implementing, and operating the company's Microsoft Azure cloud environment. This role owns the Azure platform both strategy and operations including managing the relationship with a third-party support partner.
The successful candidate will blend deep technical expertise in Azure with strong leadership and program delivery skills, guiding modernization initiatives and enabling cloud-native capabilities across the global enterprise.
What you will do...Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of cloud engineers responsible for Azure IaaS, PaaS, and automation.
- Define and maintain the Azure architecture roadmap, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and business priorities.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, networking, and application teams to design secure and resilient cloud foundations.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for platform performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Drive the adoption of modern cloud practices such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC), policy-as-code, and Dev Ops.
- Architecture & Technical Delivery
- Oversee design and implementation of Azure landing zones, network topology, and enterprise connectivity (SD-WAN, Express Route).
- Own Azure RBAC and identity integration with Microsoft Entra , ensuring least-privilege and compliance with Zero Trust principles.
- Partner with data and application teams to design scalable architectures, leveraging Azure App Services, AKS, Functions, and PaaS databases.
- Run and maintain IaaS infrastructure supporting private cloud hosted enterprise applications and services.
- Lead migration and modernization programs, including legacy workload transformation to PaaS/SaaS.
- Enforce best practices for tagging, governance, monitoring, and operational excellence (ARM, Terraform, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics).
- Automation & Operations
- Champion automation for provisioning, configuration management, and CI/CD pipelines using Azure Dev Ops.
- Ensure proper guardrails through Azure Policy and Cost Management tools.
- Build a Fin Ops capability to manage costs across the environment.
- Maintain platform reliability by coordinating with support teams for patching, incident management, and disaster recovery.
- Stakeholder & Program Management
- Act as the primary Azure SME for executive leadership and business partners.
- Translate complex technical concepts into business terms for senior stakeholders.
- Partner with procurement, finance, and vendors to manage enterprise cloud agreements.
- Support audits, compliance assessments, and architectural reviews.
- Bachelor s degree required
- 10+ years of progressive IT experience with at least 5 years in cloud architecture or engineering leadership.
- Proven hands-on expertise in Microsoft Azure including IaaS, PaaS, RBAC, VNet design, Private Link, and Entra n.
- Experience managing teams of 5+ engineers/architects across multiple disciplines.
- Experience managing outsourced teams and service providers.
- Deep understanding of Azure governance, cost management, and automation frameworks (Terraform, Bicep, ARM).
- Familiarity with security controls and frameworks such as CIS, NIST, and Zero Trust models.
- Strong collaboration skills with cybersecurity, networking, and application teams.
- Excellent communication, executive presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
