Asset Logistics Planner
The Asset Logistics Planner supports the effective management, tracking, and utilization of company assets, including tractors and trailers. The position ensures asset records remain accurate, coordinates equipment logistics to meet operational needs, monitors vendor invoices related to rentals and leases, and maintains reporting that supports operational visibility and asset planning. The role works closely with Operations, vendors, carriers, and manufacturers to ensure efficient asset deployment, accurate financial tracking, and timely resolution of discrepancies.
This role reports directly to the Director of Assets.
- Plan and coordinate the delivery, receipt, and deployment of new equipment from manufacturers and lessors ensuring proper documentation, system entry, and communication with Operations to place equipment into service.
- Plan and coordinate the physical and system-based transfers of company assets, ensuring proper documentation and coordination across profit centers.
- Work with Operations to identify lost, idle or underutilized equipment and coordinate their redistribution to locations with equipment demand.
- Obtain and evaluate carrier rate quotes for asset repositioning & onboard additional carriers as needed
- Maintain accurate asset records within TMT and TMW systems, including verification and correction of asset data.
- Perform timely inventory reconciliations for tractors and trailers to ensure alignment between physical assets and system records and report findings to managements
- Oversee equipment rental needs, assisting in sourcing rentals when required.
- Monitor and support the vendor invoice process related to new equipment, leases and rentals.
- Ensure invoices from vendors are received within expected timelines.
- Support the reconciliation of invoices against agreements, contract terms, and equipment usage records.
- Assist in compiling and analyzing data for annual Asset Review presentations and follow up on resulting action items.
- Maintain and update weekly and monthly operational and asset management reports.
- Review reports to identify anomalies or inconsistencies and investigate root causes.
- Provide findings and recommendations to management when irregularities or operational concerns are identified.
- Work and collaborate with accounting and finance on P&L and invoicing questions.
- Assist with special projects, operational initiatives, or process improvements related to asset management and logistics.
- Perform additional duties or assignments as requested by management.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
- At least 2-5 years in logistics asset management/planning role
- Computer applications experience including MS Office, TMT and TMW strongly desired
- Excellent customer service, problem solving, communication and decision making skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently and multitask
- Ability and availability to work extended hours if necessary
We are excited to share that the base salary range for this position is $52,728.00 - $70,304.00. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, targeted at 3%. NFI takes into consideration applicants' qualifications, experience, education, and geographic location when determining a starting rate of pay.
