Overview
LEAP Academy University Charter School is seeking a Custodian to support the facility management of its four school building district. The Custodian will report to the Director of Facilities to provide a safe, clean, attractive, pleasant, and smoothly functioning physical environment. The Custodian will also support academic activities, sports activities, and community and non-community functions as regulated by the school district administration team.

Responsibilities include providing security for opening and closing of all windows and doors when cleaning and maintaining spaces.
- Dusting and waxing furniture and equipment; maintaining building floors (sweep, dust mop, wet mop floors in buildings and stairwells); scrub and buff floors using floor machinery; vacuum and extract carpets in main and office spaces.
- Maintain cleanliness of restrooms and locker rooms; replace tissue, paper towels, and air fresheners as necessary.
- Ensure wastebaskets and recycling bins are clean; clean and disinfect water fountains daily.
- Wash windows inside and outside; set up, move, and dismantle furniture, equipment, and portable instructional material and supplies.
- Occasional painting of building spaces; change light bulbs as needed; ensure chalkboards are clean in classrooms.
- Maintain building exterior; remove debris and clear wastebaskets as needed; change light bulbs as needed; occasional painting of external structures; snow removal during winter season.
- Support school functions and events through setup/breakdown of furniture and equipment; clean spaces during events.
- Assist in moving and delivering heavy mail and materials within district buildings; keep custodian carts and closets neat, clean, and stocked; receive and check in custodian supply deliveries.
- Dusting/waxing furniture and equipment; floor cleaning and maintenance as described above.
- Restroom and locker room cleanliness with replenishment as necessary.
- Wastebaskets and recycling bins maintenance; daily water fountain cleaning.
- Window washing; furniture/setup; painting; lighting maintenance; chalkboard cleanliness.
- Maintain exterior areas and debris removal; outdoor wastebasket cleanliness; lighting as needed; exterior painting as required.
- Snow removal during winter season.
- Setup/breakdown of furniture and equipment for school events; post-event cleanup and space maintenance.
- Assist in moving and delivering heavy mail and materials within district buildings.
- Keep custodian carts and closets neat, stocked with supplies; receive and check in all custodian supply deliveries.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, with ability to follow oral and written directions.
- One-year prior custodial experience.
- Knowledge of basic cleaning, safety, and security principles.
- Ability to analyze and scope job assignments in advance for equipment, supplies, and manpower needs.
- Flexibility to change scheduled shift assignments, adapt to ongoing changes/demands, and overtime as necessary.
- Regular walking, standing, stooping, bending, repetitive wrist/hand movement, pushing/pulling for various lengths of time.
- Manual tasks with moderate physical strength (lifting up to 25 lbs).
- Operation of heavy and technical cleaning/building operations equipment; climbing and working on roofs from ladders, lifts, scaffolding; working in confined spaces.
- Constant exposure to chemicals; well-lit and ventilated interiors with some temperature fluctuation; protective equipment may be needed; possible exposure to blood borne pathogens.
Full-Time
:
Works at least 37.5 hours per week.
Part-Time
:
Generally up to 20 hours per week, and less than 30 hours per week.
