Repair Shop Manager and Safety Officer

The Repair Shop Manager & Safety Officer is responsible for the overall leadership, performance and strategic development of the workshop operations. This role oversees daily execution while driving long-term improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost and workforce capability. The Senior Workshop Manager leads workshop & maintenance supervisors, technical teams and workshop staff, to ensure efficient, compliant, and profitable operations aligned with company objectives.

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of the workshop technicians.
• Allocate tasks and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of repairs.
• Monitor staff performance, provide feedback and conduct performance evaluations.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding and disciplinary processes in coordination with HR and senior management.
• Provide Leadership and direction for all workshop operations, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, within budget and to quality standards.
• Oversee workload planning, capacity management, and resource allocation.
• Ensure effective coordination between workshop and adjacent departments, such as logistics, engineering, supply chain, sales and service.
• Act as the escalation point for critical operational, quality, or customer issues.
• Act as the Safety Officer of the company, which includes decision taking on safety relevant repair aspects within the workshop.
• Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews
  
  Drive workforce planning, hiring, training, and succession planning.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Promote best practices in safety and risk management.
• Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste and improve throughput.
• Establish and track KPIs related to productivity, quality, cost, delivery and safety.

• Diploma or certificate in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Preferred:
  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial technology or a related discipline.
• Preferred:
  Certifications or formal training in rotating centrifugal equipment diagnostics, balancing procedures & non-destructive testing processes.
• 8-15+ years in industrial repair, manufacturing, or service operations.
• Significant portion of experience must be in Industrial centrifuges or comparable high-speed rotating equipment (turbines, compressors, pumps).
• Strong hands on understanding of disassembly, inspection, repair and assembly of industrial centrifuges.
• Dynamic balancing of rotating assemblies.
• Tolerances, fits and critical clearances.
• Materials, coating and surface treatments used in centrifuge components.
• 5+ years in a supervisory or management role with proven experience in leading senior technicians and specialists, managing/ mentoring supervisors, workforce planning and skills development, handling performance issues and escalations.

• Technical or engineering
  -related education.
• 8-15+ years of experience in workshop, manufacturing or repair operations.
• 5+ years in leadership or management role.
• Proven experience in managing managers or supervisors.
• Strong technical and operational understanding of workshop environments.
• Proven leadership and people-development skills.
• Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills with shop-floor teams and senior management.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and performance reporting.
