Short Description
A registered RN is a professional care‑giver who, as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and who supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self. The RN follows established policies and procedures, communicates openly with internal customers and supervisors, provides excellent customer service interfacing well with all levels of staff, management, and physicians, and applies Cooper core values.

The Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper University Hospital is a pediatric facility that consists of several units that meet the diverse needs of pediatric patients:
Pediatric unit, Pediatric Intermediate unit (PIMU), Pediatric Kostic Infusion Room (PKIR), and Pediatric Intensive Care unit (PICU). Care is provided for pediatric patients aged 0 to 18 years with subspecialty services such as Endocrinology, Genetics, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology, Otolaryngology, Pediatric Surgery, Trauma, and Hematology. Family‑centered rounds are conducted daily with an interdisciplinary team, and all pediatric units are secured with restricted access for staff, with visitors gaining entry via monitored access.
Pediatric patients wear security tags to ensure safety. Facilities include a teen room, a spacious playroom for younger patients, a family waiting room, and a 38‑bed pediatric unit in the Kellemen building on South 7th with 26 beds in the pediatric unit.
2 years minimum RN pediatrics acute care experience is required.
Education RequirementsGraduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
License/Certification Requirements- Current NJ‑RN License (Registered Nurse).
- Current NJ‑BLS Certification (Basic Life Support).
- Current NJ‑CNOR (Certified Nurse, Operating Room) preferred.
- Certain specialties may require advanced certification (i.e. ACLS, NALS, PALS).
Per Diem, 7 PM–7 AM, weekends and holidays required.
Level Two Pool Work RequirementsNurses shall work at least three (3) weekend shifts per six (6) week schedule and six other shifts per six (6) week schedule, which must include four (4) holiday shifts per year (two (2) winter and two (2) summer). Weekend shifts are defined as Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday for night shift and Saturday/Sunday for the day shift; the third weekend shift can be the RN’s choice.
Nurses must schedule themselves for the full shift, as assigned, in order to meet these work requirements.
