Posting SummaryThe Research Assistant will support the use and implementation of Collaboratory, a web‑based tool for collecting campus engagement with the community. The role involves interpreting existing data, researching missing information, and loading it into Collaboratory. The assistant will work with faculty, staff, and students to verify data and reduce their data entry burden, and will train interns and work‑study students in data collection methods.
KeyDuties
- Perform data collection efforts and conduct interviews with Rutgers faculty, staff, and students.
- Analyze existing data sets, identify missing information, research community engagement activities, and input the information into the Collaboratory database.
- Communicate with faculty and staff regarding the status of their projects in Collaboratory, ensuring accuracy and public visibility.
- Query Collaboratory and run reports and summary materials as needed.
- Implement and maintain processes that track entered information and action items from contacts with faculty, staff, and students.
- Find and leverage existing sources of information and gather additional data from faculty and staff for input into Collaboratory.
- Conduct internet searches to obtain additional information.
- Train interns and work‑study students in data collection methods, data cleaning, analysis, and monitoring.
- Complete work under direct supervision, following specific instructions and within established work parameters, and keep records of work performed.
- Contribute to efforts to tell a robust story of engagement that illustrates the collective impact of REACH's efforts to improve community partnerships.
Salary: $25 per hour (non‑exempt). Final salary offer may vary based on qualifications, experience, and departmental or grant funds.

Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field or discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant research experience.
- Knowledge of general principles and practices within a discipline and ability to apply that knowledge practically.
- Good communication skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Working knowledge of Collaboratory.
