Position Summary
Rutgers University‑Camden’s Center for Computational Biology (CCIB) invites applications for a 6‑month, part‑time (20 hrs per week) Research Assistant to support Dr. Andrey Grigoriev. The position is grant‑funded and pays $22.50 per hour (nonexempt). Responsibilities include developing Python software, analyzing next‑generation sequencing data, applying machine‑learning techniques, visualizing results, and preparing reports with illustrations and narratives.
Responsibilities- Plan, develop, test, and deploy functional Python software for large‑scale sequencing datasets across Unix, Windows, and Mac platforms.
- Apply statistical analysis and machine‑learning methods to interpret genomic data.
- Create visualizations and interpret results using standard and self‑developed tools.
- Prepare written reports, including figures, narrative summaries, and conclusions for study findings.
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Master’s degree in computational biology, computer science, or bioinformatics is preferred with at least 3 years of practical experience.
- Strong programming skills in Python and demonstrated experience with next‑generation sequencing data analysis.
- Familiarity with statistical data analysis and machine‑learning methods.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in research contexts.

Position is nonexempt under FLSA. Flexible work arrangements may be available per Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, subject to change.
