Laboratory Technician II

The Prasasya Lab at Coriell Institute for Medical Research is seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician II to support of research in the epigenetics regulation of cellular decision making in the development and cancer.

Our lab uses mouse and cell culture models along with various modern molecular biology techniques. The lab will provide rigorous training in research methodologies spanning next generation sequencing and genomics, cancer biology, and cellular/molecular biology.

This individual should be able to learn how help in the general running of the lab and to independently handle experiments or small research projects.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

• Must be willing to conduct small animal work (i.e. mouse colony)
• Maintaining routine lab functions, perform data collection, maintaining detailed laboratory records, and general laboratory organization
• Help in the general lab organizations such as maintain records of supplies needed and receiving
• Must be highly motivated to hone excellent communication skills, including preparing results for oral presentations and write up.
• Technician II's are expected to be able to perform various experiments and analysis using various equipment and instruments within the laboratory with little to no oversight of a direct supervisor, following training
• Examining instrument malfunctions in the laboratory and assisting with their repair
• Maintaining biomedical materials, as directed by manager or PI
• Mentoring new hires, and/or interns and students who are also assigned to the same lab
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Cell/Molecular Biology, or relevant scientific field that included laboratory training and curriculum.

Experience:

• 3+ years of experience or equivalent combination of academic experience is required.
• Experience with management of mouse colony and mammalian cell culture (ESC) is preferred.
• Familiarity with molecular biology technique and omics technologies is desirable but not required
• Technical proficiency in laboratory equipment and procedures, meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to stand, sit, kneel, stoop, or bend over for prolonged periods of time in a lab environment and with PPE being worn.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

Pay & Compensation:

This role starts at $25.00 an hour, but will be commensurate with relevant experience. They will also be eligible to join Coriell's Benefit Plan as a Full-Time Employee, gaining access to the following benefits:
