Summary:

Responsible for the direction of daily activities of areas assigned. Assume overall responsibility for the safety and security of designated areas. Assign tasks to ensure continuity of operations. Identify potential security risks and respond accordingly. Complete incident reports and required documentation for all security incidents.

• Aid in training security officers.
• Educate, train and drill hospital staff on responding to emergency situations.
• Provide assistance in Environment of Care rounds and Joint Commission Surveys.
• Perform duties associated with all assigned posts including walking and mobile security and safety rounds; stationary posts; one-to-one observer; traffic control and special assignments.
• Oversee weapon screening utilizing handheld wands and the operation of the weapon screening system, investigations, incident reports and shift logs; access control; infant protection and the security of sensitive areas.
• Provide daily operational support to the Lieutenant, Chief or Director and, as needed, assume responsibility for the operations of the department.
• Collaborate and communicate with division team members, officer-in-charge, immediate supervisor, Nursing Supervisor, Division Management, Health System security teams, and law enforcement agencies.
• Direct and, when warranted, escort visitors, vendors, patients, and staff to appropriate locations within and outside of the facilities and parking lots.
• Verify staff IDs and ensure the public obtains proper , passes and badges; fabricate s as required.
• Respond to maintenance issues during off hours and contact appropriate personnel for resolution.

  2 or more years’ experience in security or a comparable role.

  Education:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent.
• Training/Certifications/Licensure:
  Valid Driver’s License required. New Jersey Security Officers Registration Act (SORA) certified preferred.

• Hourly Rate: $18.89 - $27.81. Actual salary will vary based on experience and internal equity.
