Safeguard, patrol, and monitor buildings, grounds, and property for the purpose of protecting lives and property, preventing theft, fire, vandalism, and unauthorized entry while abiding by and enforcing Virtua policy and procedure. Assist visitors, patients, vendors, and staff by providing excellent customer service and hospitality. Conduct weapon screening at public entrances with approved technology. Provide accurate information and directions, and respond to all emergency situations.
Escalate emergencies to law enforcement as needed. Monitor alarms and security cameras.
Perform the duties associated with all assigned posts, including walking and mobile security rounds; stationary posts; traffic control; and special assignments. Monitor doors, surveillance cameras, and alarms. Provide visitor control and input/output data using Health System technology and systems. Conduct weapon screening using handheld wands and the EVOLV system, prepare investigations, incident reports, and shift logs, handle access control, infant protection, and secure sensitive areas.
Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members, officer-in-charge, supervisors, nursing supervisors, security teams, and law enforcement agencies. Provide directions and escort visitors, vendors, patients, and staff to appropriate locations. Verify staff compliance and manage public access. Respond to emergency situations such as CODE Security and CODE RED alerts, recognizing hazards and chemical spills, and use specialized equipment as required.
Resolve maintenance issues and coordinate with leadership.
- At least 2 years security experience preferred.
- Ability to remain levelheaded and respond quickly in stressful situations.
- Proficient written and oral communication skills.
HS diploma or equivalent.
Training, Certifications, and Licensure- Valid driver's license required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and meet insurance requirements.
- New Jersey Security Officers Registration Act (SORA) certification preferred.
Hourly Rate: $18.69 - $26.01. Salary will vary based on experience and internal equity.
