The Electrician Apprentice will perform any duties associated with the Fabrication Shop process on an as-needed basis. The person with the applicable qualifications, personality traits and references will join an existing team of electricians and engineers dedicated to expanding the organization to become the premier Metal Recycling Company in the United States. The Electrical Helper's central task is to help our electrical team install, repair and maintain all electrical systems at Eastern Metal Recycling’s Camden, NJ facilities This position will learn the basics of fabrication, welding, conduit installation/bending, pulling wire.

  • Assist with the set-up and clean-up of all functions performed in the Fabrication Shop.
  • Assist the Fabrication Shop electrical team as needed with basic installation/maintenance of EMR electrical systems such as 24

    VDC control systems, 120

    VAC circuits, as well as industrial 480

    VAC, EMR’s fire suppression system.
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools and mobile equipment as necessary.
  • Monitors equipment for appropriate usage and wear.
  • Monitors work environment for hazards and maintains healthy ventilation levels to avoid particle or gas inhalation.
  • Follows safety protocol, including wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
II.Required Skills / Abilities
  • Knowledge of PLCs
  • Mechanical inclination and a basic understanding of small mobile equipment such as forklifts, skid-steers and man lifts.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Basic electrical theory fundamentals.
  • Ability to work safely on electrical systems with supervision and electrical team lead.
  • Effective communication, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to take direction, perform duties to the highest standards, and be able to meet the scheduling obligations as posted.
III.Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED-equivalent.
  • Previous welding, fabrication or electrical work preferred
  • Experience using electrical or manual tools such as saws, squares, calipers, etc.
IV.Other Job Demands

While performing the essential functions of this job, the Fabrication Shop Apprentice will be working in an outdoor environment. The employee may be near moving mechanical parts and will be exposed to all weather conditions. The noise level in the environment can be loud and will require ear protection. The employee is required to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.

This job also requires frequent bending, kneeling, and standing, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working in confined spaces.
