Housing Coordinator – Burlington County Shelter

Volunteers of America Delaware Valley is seeking a proactive, people‑focused Housing Coordinator to support clients at our Burlington County Shelter in securing permanent, affordable housing. Reporting to the Social Worker, you will identify housing opportunities, build relationships with housing providers, develop a practical resource guide, and help resolve tenant–landlord issues so clients can obtain—and maintain—stable housing.

• Build and maintain relationships with landlords, housing authorities, social service agencies, realtors, and subsidized housing providers to identify placement opportunities
• Develop and regularly update a housing resource guide for current, real‑time options
• Match clients to appropriate housing opportunities and support the steps required to secure placement
• Participate in arbitration between clients and landlords to resolve disputes and, when needed, coordinate client relocation
• Collaborate with impact teams, case managers, community partners, and agencies to remove barriers to housing stability
• Communicate with case managers as needed after placement to reduce the likelihood of homelessness
• Coordinate efforts with county partners and other organizations working toward permanent placement of homeless individuals/families
• Facilitate housing and financial stability education using tools such as “Rent Smart” and “Financial Smart” documentation
• Utilize the Corporation for Supportive Housing website tools/resources to strengthen client support
• Complete required reports and data collection per funding sources and agency requirements
• Maintain accurate, confidential client records reflecting services provided and progress made
• Participate in meetings, supervision, trainings, and professional development specifically geared toward ending homelessness
• Complete other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree or 5 years’ experience in a related field of human services and housing
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and nonverbal), with solid follow‑through and documentation habits
• Knowledge of the homeless population and the housing industry “in real time” (current market/resource awareness)
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency driving standards
• Ability to pass a criminal background check
• Ability to handle Protected Health Information and comply with HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules
• Bilingual abilities are a plus
