Residential Counselor Manager (Behavioral Care Specialist Manager)

Location: 1000 Atlantic Avenue, Camden, NJ

Population: Adolescents

Schedule: Full time, variable shift including day, evening, and weekend hours.

Salary Range: $58,000 – $63,000

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • At least four years of direct care experience with youth in a behavioral health agency or institutional setting.
  • One year of supervisory experience in human services.
  • One year of experience working with youth who have a history of severe, complex behavioral and mental health needs.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a Criminal Record History Clearance and a Child Abuse History Clearance.
  • Ability to physically participate in therapeutic holds and to be certified biannually.
  • Trained in trauma-informed care and crisis de-escalation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
  • Flexible and able to work on agency holidays and during shifts when required.
  • Knowledge of CFG’s mission and values.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Competency in the Nurtured Heart Approach with its 3 Stands and Recognitions.
Essential Expectations
  • Provide daily care, supervision, skills training, guidance, encouragement, and support for youth.
  • Supervise BCS staff and ensure daily implementation of treatment plans.
  • Maintain a therapeutic milieu, fostering a positive community atmosphere.
  • Participate in staff meetings, team meetings, and ongoing training.
  • Ensure safety, cleanliness, and order of the facility.
  • Document behaviors, interventions, and treatment plan activities accurately.
  • Assist with medication administration, daily living routines, and behavior plans.
  • Resist and intervene in crisis situations when necessary.
  • Manage and supervise daily recreational, social, and educational activities.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for BCS staff.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling, time off approval, payroll liaison, and supply ordering.
  • Support youth family visitation and community involvement.
