Social Worker
Qualifications:
A Master's Degree from an institution approved by the State Department of Education. Knowledge of laws and regulations governing special education. Demonstrate effective ability to counsel students in both group and individual settings. NJ School Social Worker Certification. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Job Goal:
To provide school social worker and case management services to students in the Voorhees Township Public Schools, while also assisting school personnel in helping students learn appropriate social skills that will contribute to their educational program.
Performance Responsibilities:
Provide counseling services to students, and, as needed, make referrals to appropriate community resources. Serves as liaison between the school and outside agencies such as the Department of Children & Families, as well as McKinney-Vento. Inform the staff and community of mental health services available, and serve as a consultant to parents, school personnel, and community groups on mental health topics.
Serve as a member of the Preschool Intervention and Referral Team. Perform formal and informal social evaluations and compose reports detailing results. Serve as liaison between home and school when considerable follow-up is necessary, as in welfare cases, foster home children and disadvantaged students. Assist students directly toward adjustment to school. Prepare and submit required reports such as screening and social service reports.
Participates with other members of the child study team in case conferences and regular staff meetings, interpreting the implications of significant social findings, and participating in educational planning for exceptional students. Maintain sufficient records of cases for use by school staff members and outside agencies when appropriate. Conduct appropriate in-service training of parents and school personnel. Perform such other duties as assigned by the Director of Early Childhood and/or the Superintendent of Schools.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with state and board regulations/policies by the Director of Early Childhood. Terms of Employment:
Ten month year. Salary:
The salary for this position shall be set in accordance with the negotiated salary guidelines in the VTEA agreement. Benefits:
