Embedded Software Engineer responsible for translating requirements into working solutions for the C5 and Cyber Solution Centers. The role includes application of technical proficiency across all stages of the SDLC, gathering requirements, prioritizing tasks, and working closely with stakeholders. The engineer will be a key team member on a Scrum team, instrumental in setting direction and strategy for product and infrastructure development.
EssentialFunctions
- Support team members in embedded software application development
- Investigate root cause of complex issues and implement solutions independently or with a multidisciplinary team
- Apply computer science, engineering and mathematical analysis concepts in software development for target hardware
- Work closely with cross‑functional engineering members to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, operational performance requirements and overall system design
- Support and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, hardware‑software integration, and formal test
- Develop software test plans and procedures and other relevant technical documentation
- Use modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, prototype and evaluate results
- Participate in peer reviews, identify, track and repair defects
- Use a variety of software languages (primarily C/C++ and Python) developing code for embedded real‑time operating systems (VxWorks, Linux, Integrity)
- U.S. citizenship with an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- 2+ years of experience debugging applications on simulated and/or target hardware
- Experience using a Real‑Time Operating System (RTOS) such as Green Hills Integrity, VxWorks or similar
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Object‑oriented design and implementation experience, with exposure to software modeling and UML tools (IBM Rhapsody, Magic Draw/Cameo)
- Experience developing device drivers and Board Support Packages for real‑time embedded systems
- Experience with Information Assurance and/or cryptography
- Experience with NSA Type 1 certification or other SW certification such as DO‑178
Salary range: $91,000 – $135,000. Additional benefits include relocation stipend, 401(k), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and company‑paid holidays.
