Overview
Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems is seeking a full‑time Early Career Software Engineer who will design, modify, develop, and integrate software for target modeling and simulation systems using agile methods. Responsibilities include design, development, integration, and testing of new capabilities for Department of Defense products, working with models of real‑world weapons, radars, and command & control systems. The role requires experience in C++, Java, or Python, familiarity with software design patterns, debugging, and CI/CD processes.
Responsibilities- Participate in design, development, integration, and testing of new software capabilities for DoD products and technologies.
- Collaborate on models of real‑world weapons, radars, and command & control systems.
- Identify and address system and software defects independently; practice sound engineering discipline.
- Decompose complex problems and formulate solutions.
- Perform code reviews, optimize algorithms, and conduct experiments to ensure functionality and performance meet requirements.
- Use agile methods and contribute to continuous integration and continuous development pipelines.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent STEM field with 2 years relevant experience.
- Experience with C++, Java, and/or Python programming languages.
- Knowledge of Linux commands.
- Experience with software design and testing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Team‑oriented and collaborative work style.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at the SECRET level.
- Experience with Agile Development processes and Atlassian tools.
- Knowledge of software design, testing, and debugging.
- Experience with software life‑cycle development and configuration management using tools like Git.
- Understanding of object‑oriented design and principles.
Requires a government security clearance at the SECRET level. Must be a U.S. citizen.
Location and Schedule- Onsite, full‑time at a Lockheed Martin facility in Camden, NJ.
- Schedule:
4‑day/10‑hour days, 3 days off per week. - Base salary: $75,000 – $142,760 (New Jersey).
