Job Description: Java Developer
Location: Jersey City, New Jersey (Onsite)
Role OverviewThis role is responsible for hands‑on application development to support current and target processes. The selected candidate will partner with multiple technology teams to implement the target architecture and support migration to a strategic platform. This position requires strong technical skills in Java development and big data technologies.
Key Responsibilities- Perform end‑to‑end Java application development.
- Utilize multi‑threading, collections API, and JDBC for robust application design.
- Implement frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JPA, and Hibernate.
- Design and optimize data pipelines and queries for performance and scalability.
- Discover, ingest, and manage new data sources, including real‑time, streaming, and batch data.
- Load and manage large datasets within a Hadoop environment and compute complex logic on Spark platforms.
- Conduct performance profiling to identify and implement performance improvements and memory optimizations.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to other members of the data engineering team.
Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a quantitative discipline is required.
Experience: A minimum of nine years of experience in end‑to‑end Java application development is required. Experience with data‑intensive applications and software development in an Agile environment is necessary.
Technical
Skills:
- Core Java, including multi‑threading, collections API, and JDBC.
- Frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JPA, and Hibernate.
- SQL and No
SQL databases. - Big data technologies including Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Apache Hive, or Apache Flink.
- Java UI technologies such as HTML5, Angular JS, Backbone JS, or Bootstrap.
- Knowledge of Java profiling tools.
- A background in enterprise stress testing.
- Knowledge of risk domains (credit, operational, and market).
- Familiarity with cloud computing or distributed computing.
- Experience working within a Hadoop or other big data distributed ecosystem.
