Job Description: L3

Harris Integrated Mission Systems is seeking a Technical Lead Software Engineer. Responsibilities include leading a software development team, analyzing requirements and translating them into working and maintainable solutions, planning development, allocating budgets and tasks, tracking team status, measuring team performance using EVMS techniques, and enforcing process across the entire SDLC.

Essential Functions
  • Experience leading a software team/project with strong project management skills.
  • Project planning, task definition, assignment, and performance monitoring.
  • Object‑oriented design and implementation experience, including exposure to software modeling and UML tools such as IBM Rhapsody or Magic Draw/Cameo.
  • Developing software utilizing modern C++ tools and standards.
  • Support engineering team members as a subject‑matter expert in embedded software application development, providing guidance and direction to engineers.
  • Investigate root cause of complex issues and implement solutions, working independently or with a multi‑discipline team.
  • Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts in software development for target hardware.
  • Work closely with cross‑functional engineering members to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and design overall system performance.
  • Support and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, hardware–software integration, and formal testing.
  • Develop software test plans and procedures, and other relevant technical documentation.
Qualifications
  • U.S. citizenship with an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience debugging applications on simulated and target hardware.
  • Experience with a real‑time operating system (RTOS), such as Green Hills Integrity, VxWorks, or similar.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Additional Skills
  • Experience with EVMS.
  • Experience developing device drivers and board support packages for real‑time embedded systems.
  • Experience with information assurance and/or cryptography, and NSA Type 1 certification or other SW certification such as DO‑178.
  • Prior experience with Rust.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $125,000 – $205,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary; the final offer may vary based on experience and geographic location. L3
