Our client, a well-established enterprise organization, is seeking a Principal Enterprise Application Architect to help shape the future of its enterprise application landscape. This senior-level architecture position will serve as a strategic advisor across application development teams, providing technical leadership, defining enterprise standards, and driving application modernization initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enterprise application architecture, cloud-native solution design, and modern software development practices. This role combines long-term technology strategy with hands-on architectural guidance, helping development teams adopt scalable, secure, and modern application patterns across customer-facing platforms.
Responsibilities
- Define and maintain enterprise application architecture standards, roadmaps, and best practices.
- Partner with business and technology leaders to align technology strategy with organizational objectives.
- Guide development teams through application modernization and cloud migration initiatives.
- Design scalable, resilient, and secure architectures utilizing AWS cloud services.
- Recommend appropriate cloud-native technologies, databases, APIs, integration patterns, and microservices architectures.
- Champion API-first design principles and modern software engineering practices.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and conduct proof-of-concept initiatives where appropriate.
- Collaborate with architects, engineering leaders, developers, and stakeholders across multiple business functions.
- Provide technical mentorship and architectural direction to development teams.
- Influence enterprise-wide technology decisions involving cloud platforms, integrations, AI initiatives, and digital transformation.
- Develop architecture documentation, reference models, and future-state technology roadmaps.
- Ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
Requirements
- 15+ years of progressive technology experience.
- 10+ years of application development experience.
- 5+ years in Application Architecture, Solution Architecture, or Enterprise Architecture.
- Deep expertise designing enterprise-scale applications and distributed systems.
- Strong AWS architecture experience, including cloud-native services and solution design.
- Experience with:
- RESTful integrations
- Cloud-native databases and data stores
- Integration patterns
- Scalable and resilient application architectures
- Strong understanding of application modernization, technical road-mapping, and software development lifecycle best practices.
- Ability to influence senior technology leadership while effectively mentoring engineering teams.
- Experience creating architecture standards, governance models, and reusable design patterns.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies including AI-enabled applications and modern cloud engineering practices is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
