Overview
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. The PCT’s responsibilities include measuring and documenting vital signs, identifying patient concerns and reporting them to colleagues. The PCT may move, turn or relocate patients as required for comfort and medical needs.
An effective PCT should have patience, empathy and intuition, with good communication and organizational skills to interact with the Manager and Charge Nurse and convey issues to the Care Team.

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. A PCT’s responsibility includes measuring and documenting vital signs and identifying patient concerns, reporting them to colleagues. A PCT’s duty includes moving, turning or relocating patients as required for comfort and medical requirements.
An effective PCT should have patience, empathy and intuition to serve patients best, with good communication and organizational skills to interact with the Manager and Charge Nurse and communicate issues to Care Team Members.
A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. At least 1 year of patient care work experience in a health care facility or Certified Nursing Assistant is preferred.
Required Licensure, Certifications, RegistrationsBasic Life Support required upon hire. Thereafter, must maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
