Joint Venture Project Accountant
Job Description
The Joint Venture Project Accountant manages the full-cycle billing process for joint venture projects, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing in accordance with contract terms. This role partners closely with project managers and joint venture stakeholders to compile labor, expense, and subcontractor data, allocate costs appropriately across entities, and maintain detailed billing schedules and reconciliations. The position requires strong technical billing expertise, advanced Excel skills, and proficiency with large-scale ERP systems to support complex, high-value engineering or architecture projects.
Responsibilities
+ Manage the full-cycle billing process for joint venture projects, from data collection through invoice issuance.
+ Review and interpret joint venture contracts to ensure billing aligns with agreed terms and conditions.
+ Compile labor, expense, and subcontractor data from multiple sources and validate accuracy prior to billing.
+ Allocate project costs appropriately across joint venture entities in accordance with contract requirements and accounting standards.
+ Prepare, maintain, and update detailed billing schedules for multiple joint venture projects.
+ Perform regular reconciliations of billed amounts, costs, and revenue to ensure accuracy and completeness.
+ Collaborate closely with project managers and joint venture stakeholders to resolve billing issues and clarify project financials.
+ Utilize advanced Excel functions, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, to analyze billing data and support reporting.
+ Enter, review, and maintain billing and project financial information within a large-scale ERP system.
+ Monitor billing timelines and ensure invoices are prepared and submitted accurately and on schedule.
+ Support internal and external inquiries related to project billing and joint venture financials.
+ Contribute to continuous improvement of billing processes and controls for joint venture projects.
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years of project billing experience for joint venture projects.
+ Proven experience working for an engineering or architecture company with revenue over $100 million.
+ Strong experience in billing for joint ventures, including cost allocation and contract-based invoicing.
+ Ability to create and use pivot tables in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
+ Ability to use VLOOKUP functions in Excel to reconcile and validate billing data.
+ Proficiency with large-scale ERP systems such as Deltek, SAGE, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling complex billing data.
+ Ability to interpret and review contracts to ensure proper billing treatment.
+ Effective collaboration skills to work closely with project managers and joint venture stakeholders.

Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint is a strong plus.
+ Prior experience supporting project billing in a professional services environment, particularly engineering or architecture.
+ Comfort working with high-volume, high-value projects and complex organizational structures.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to project financials and billing.
+ Ability to adapt to different time zones and collaborate with distributed teams in a remote setting.

This role is 100% remote and open to candidates in any time zone, offering flexibility in work location and schedule alignment. You will work in a fully virtual environment, collaborating with project managers and stakeholders through digital communication and collaboration tools. The organization uses large-scale ERP systems such as Deltek, SAGE, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms, along with advanced Excel-based reporting and analysis.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
