Crater – 1st Shift
Join a small, close-knit team in a new facility where you will build custom crates, handle packaging and kitting, and support shipping operations using both hand tools and computers. This 1st shift role offers the opportunity to take on significant responsibility in the shop, interact with customers, and grow into expanded duties, including operating machinery and assisting with box truck runs between facilities.
Responsibilities- Build and assemble wooden crates using hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing or construction-style environment.
- Perform packaging and kitting of products to ensure items are securely and accurately prepared for shipment.
- Enter shipping and order information into the computer accurately for shipping and tracking purposes.
- Operate band saws after receiving on-the-job training and follow all safety procedures while using equipment.
- Handle the majority of day-to-day shop tasks, especially when leadership is off-site, ensuring production runs smoothly.
- Work directly with customers as needed, providing professional and courteous service.
- Assist with general material handling, including moving and staging materials for crate building and packaging.
- Support forklift operations if qualified, including loading and unloading materials as needed.
- After permanent hire, train to drive a box truck and assist with runs to other facilities.
- Follow all safety guidelines and best practices while working with wood products, tools, and machinery.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools in a construction, manufacturing, or similar environment.
- Previous work experience in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Ability to use a computer for shipping-related tasks such as entering orders and shipment details.
- Experience operating machinery in a production or shop setting.
- Experience working with wood products or willingness to work extensively with wood materials.
- Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for long periods and handling materials.
- Strong sense of responsibility and reliability to run shop activities when leadership is off-site.
Skills & Qualifications
- Packaging and kitting experience.
- Experience working directly with customers in a shop, warehouse, or service environment.
- Experience operating a forklift.
- Willingness to be trained to operate a band saw.
- Willingness to be trained to drive a box truck after permanent hire.
- Comfort working in a small team where one person may handle the majority of daily tasks.
- Interest in growing into a lead role as the operation expands.

WorkEnvironment
This is a 1st shift position, typically working from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in a new facility. The role starts as a contract position with the potential for hire depending on order volume and business needs. The shop environment involves working with wood products, hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as band saws and forklifts. You will use computers for shipping tasks and may be one of the primary people in the shop, handling a broad range of duties.
After permanent hire, you will also be trained to drive a box truck to support runs to other facilities. The setting is a hands-on, production-focused environment where safety, reliability, and teamwork are essential.
This is a Contract position based out of Camp Hill, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
