Role Overview

This position serves as the Workforce Development and Transition Resource Teacher for the Campbell‑Kapolei Complex Area. The Teacher supports K‑12 schools and the Complex Area in workforce development through college and career exposure, exploration, and experiences, and collaborates with state and community partners on workforce development and transition initiatives.

The Hawaii State Department of Education requires a Bachelor's Degree for teacher, librarian, or counselor positions. If hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, the candidate has a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license and must enroll in a program aligned with the teaching line. Upon hire, a valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit is required.

New employees can expect their first paycheck within the first three pay periods after their start date. Paydays occur on the 5th and 20th of each month (or the previous business day if those dates fall on a holiday).

• Compensation: 10‑month teachers are compensated according to the Bargaining Unit 05 10‑month salary schedule for a 10‑month work year.
• Paid sick leave: 10‑month teachers receive 18 days of paid sick leave (6 of which may be used for personal/professional development) and observe State/Federal holidays.
• Health insurance:
  The State may pay a portion of premiums for state‑sponsored medical, drug, vision, and adult dental plans.
• Group life insurance:
  The State provides a free life insurance policy for employees and retirees.
• Premium conversion plan:
  Employees may increase take‑home pay by having the State deduct health‑care premiums before payroll taxes.
• Flexible spending accounts:
  Eligible employees may reduce federal and state income and social‑security taxes through a tax‑savings benefit program.
• Retirement plan:
  The State contributes to a retirement plan for eligible employees; eligibility details vary by credited service and age.
• Tax shelter annuity (TSA):
  Eligible employees may participate in a program allowing pre‑tax contributions to an authorized TSA provider.
