You’ll Do

As an expert professional in this field, the Principal R&D Engineer serves as the subject matter expert in the design, continuous improvement, and manufacturability of commercialized neurovascular or vascular products and/or technical innovations. The role provides insights and leadership as an individual technical contributor, promoting new ideas and innovation through processes and techniques that drive best practices and engineering principles. The position also includes mentoring and developing other R&D engineers.

  • Lead assigned technical projects in the catheter engineering group to drive value improvement, line extensions, and commercial compliance with quality systems and global regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate performance characteristics of new product designs and identify opportunities for development or improvement based on customer feedback, technologies, and clinical needs.
  • Through research, technical discussions, and interaction with surgical advisory boards and R&D team members, conceptualize and prototype new product designs, add‑ons, or enhancements.
  • Ensure products are designed to facilitate manufacturability, addressing budget constraints, customer needs, and schedule requirements.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline and a minimum of 12+ years of experience driving innovation in flexible medical device instruments; or equivalent combination of education and work experience in a regulated industry.
  • Experience leading a technical cross‑functional team through all phases of product development.
  • Ability to be self‑directed with minimal supervision, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities to guide a technical project team toward efficient solutions.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, strong documentation, and communication skills.

Salary Range: $189,000 – $213,000 annually. Salary is a general guideline; actual offers consider scope, responsibilities, experience, education, and market factors.
