Location:

Campbell, CA (On-site / Hybrid)

Introduction Client is seeking a hands‑on engineer to support the design, prototyping, and testing of custom microfluidic cartridges and life science instrumentation. This is a great opportunity for a junior engineer looking to bridge mechanical design and embedded/electronic hardware in the biotech and medical device space.

Skills & Qualifications (Must-have qualifications that candidates must meet to be considered)
  • Education:

    B.S. In Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience:

    1–2 years of practical experience (including industry internships, lab research, or full‑time roles).
  • CAD Tools:
    Strong proficiency in Solid Works for 3D part modeling and 2D drafting.
  • Microcontroller Programming:
    Basic programming and interfacing experience with Arduino (C/C++) or similar prototyping platforms.
  • Hands‑on

    Skills:

    Comfortable with hand tools, benchtop assembly, and manual soldering/wiring.
  • Prior work experience at client or in client’s Industry Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2
Preferred

Skills & Qualifications
  • Familiarity with basic electronic board design (schematic capture or layout in KiCad, Eagle, Altium, etc.).
  • Prior exposure to rapid prototyping (3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining).
  • Interest or prior experience in medical devices, life sciences, microfluidics, or diagnostics hardware.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
  • Mechanical CAD Design:
    Create and modify 3D models, component parts, test fixtures, and assembly drawings using Solid Works.
  • Prototyping & Assembly:
    Build, assemble, and iterate functional prototypes of microfluidic devices, fixtures, and benchtop test systems.
  • Electronics & Test Automation:
    Develop simple test automation routines and sensor/actuator controls using Arduino (or similar microcontrollers).
  • Hands‑on Lab Work:
    Perform manual soldering, basic PCB wiring/rework, and cable harness assembly.
  • Testing & Troubleshooting:
    Support bench testing, collect data, diagnose electromechanical issues, and collaborate with senior engineers to optimize designs.
