The X‑Ray Technician will be performing calibrations, nondestructive tests (NDT), and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and record results. Level II Technicians are qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable ASME codes, standards, and specifications. Level II Technicians are thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the method of NDT being used and should exercise assigned responsibility for on‑the‑job training and guidance.
The facility is equipped with CR X‑Ray equipment.
- Reads prints and locates piece parts.
- Sets up operational parameters on the welding machine and monitor. Makes corrections as needed.
- Completes first article inspection before starting run.
- Monitors the product quality using required gauges and inspection criteria.
- Conducts tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection.
- Establishes techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
- Applies testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluates results.
- Interprets radiographs, cathode ray tube (CRT) or digital readouts, conductivity meters and visual indicators.
- Organizes and reports test results.
- Operates lifting devices as needed.
- Looks for opportunity to get involved in safety, environmental, process changes and overall improvement efforts.
- Follows all EHS guidelines and applicable procedures.
- Reads, understands, and follows the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and EHS Work Instructions.
- Reports any unsafe conditions or incidents in a timely manner to their supervisor or any member of management.
- Shuts down process if unsafe.
- Follows proper machine shutdown procedures.
- Maintains regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Must be dependable and self‑motivated.
- Must possess good communication skills.
- Can contribute to and support the existence of a positive work environment.
- Can pay attention to the operations of the machinery.
- High school diploma or GED; or 1‑year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must attend, complete, and implement required in‑house training.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, tape measures, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must be willing to obtain Level II X‑Ray certification (in‑house certification.)
