Projec Accountant

Job Description

Experience: Senior Level

Salary: $70,000 - $95,000 per year

• Manage project financials for multiple active construction projects.
• Process and track subcontractor invoices, vendor payments, and purchase orders.
• Prepare and submit owner billings, pay applications, lien waivers, and supporting documentation.
• Monitor project budgets, job costs, change orders, and committed costs.
• Assist Project Managers with cost forecasting and monthly financial reporting.
• Reconcile project accounts and ensure accuracy of financial records.
• Coordinate with accounting and operations teams to maintain up-to-date project documentation.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Maintain compliance with contract requirements, insurance documentation, and subcontract agreements.
• Communicate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams regarding billing and payment inquiries.
• Identify process improvements to enhance project accounting efficiency.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of accounting or construction accounting experience preferred.
• Experience in the construction industry or with a General Contractor is strongly preferred.
• Understanding of AIA billing, job costing, retainage, and change order processes.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and construction accounting software.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Knowledge of commercial construction processes and full project life cycles.
• Ability to analyze financial data and provide accurate reporting.
• Strong problem-solving and time management abilities.

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Project Accountant to support the financial management of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role works closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Superintendents, and Leadership to ensure accurate job costing, billing, reporting, and financial tracking across multiple projects.
