Job Overview
Become the catalyst for ground‑breaking improvement across our global manufacturing network. This role offers a unique opportunity to directly impact business performance while developing and mentoring teams to achieve breakthrough results.
Key Responsibilities- Drive Operational Excellence:
Lead the development of BD Excellence capabilities across the Canaan site, focusing on specific product families and creating a culture of continuous improvement. - Champion Cost to Win (CTW) Initiatives:
Spearhead operational performance improvements that deliver measurable financial impact, ensuring all plants maintain a robust 3‑year project funnel with clear annual targets. Proactively lead multiple teams to the desired results. - Mentor Future Leaders:
Coach plant OPEX engineers and collaborate with plant leadership teams to build sustainable capability and realize tangible savings. - Lead Breakthrough Events:
Design and facilitate targeted Kaizen events that challenge existing paradigms and accelerate the impact of key initiatives through practical application of Lean principles. - Develop Best Practices:
Support the site by developing standards, optimizing methodologies for different manufacturing technologies, and driving adoption of standard methodologies across the organization. - Drive Strategic Vision:
Help site leadership teams create compelling visions for operational excellence, ensuring alignment through cascading Key Performance Indicators from top‑down and bottom‑up. Conduct periodic reviews of critical metrics and actions for the Canaan plant, facilitate and coach plant associates as required to ensure performance goals are achieved, and conduct Zero Loss Workshops as required. - Optimize Value Streams:
Lead the implementation of strategic plans for continuous improvement across primary manufacturing processes, optimizing throughput and minimizing waste to enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Shape the development and execution of business unit operating plans.
- Supply strategic direction and participate in business unit leadership teams.
- Drive achievement of cost‑to‑win performance targets across multiple plants.
- Lead multi‑functional teams to achieve breakthrough operational improvements.
- Directly impact key financial drivers including profit, loss, and productivity.
- Build and optimize multi‑year cost improvement pipelines with measurable results.
The Ideal Candidate
- Lean Manufacturing Expertise:
Advanced knowledge and direct experience applying Operational Excellence/LEAN production methodologies in manufacturing environments. - Proven Change Agent:
Track record of successfully leading ground‑breaking improvement initiatives with measurable business impact. - Exceptional Problem Solver:
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex operational challenges and develop innovative solutions. Strong track record in project or program management. - Skilled Coach and Mentor:
Experience developing capabilities in others through effective training and coaching. - Thought Leadership:
Recognized expertise in one or more BD Excellence components. - Business Sense:
Ability to connect operational improvements to financial outcomes, other projects and customer value. - Communication Excellence:
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels. - Project Management:
Strong track record in managing complex improvement projects to successful completion.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- Previous experience in implementing, and strong knowledge of, Lean and Six Sigma business systems.
- 3 to 5 years manufacturing experience.
- Leadership experience in a plant.
- 1 year experience operating a production system.
- Experience of working in a multi‑site and multi‑cultural environment.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred.
