Job Description Summary The Manufacturing Unit Leader will have overall ownership of production, processes, and people included in the respective Manufacturing Unit and will be fully responsible to deliver upon SQDC targets, to eliminate losses in the area through BDPS and to grow the capability of the team. This role has responsibility for the designated product line including setting goals, making decisions, and driving accountability toward department objectives in the designated Manufacturing Unit.
Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Responsibilities- Accountable for the achievement of key strategic, operational and functional goals.
- Developing and mentoring the manufacturing unit to drive results by focusing on production, associate capability development and ownership.
- Coordinates and drives all activities within the manufacturing unit and sets priorities.
- Responsible to develop and manage the manufacturing unit’s budget and headcount levels.
- Coordinates the establishment and communication of challenging SQDC goals. Translates manufacturing unit targets into lines / areas / workplaces and ensures that each associate understands what is expected from them with documented individual, specific and measurable targets.
- Initiates and drives change to ensure that short and long term SQDC goals for the lines / areas under responsibility are being met.
- Resolves issues in the line and for the manufacturing unit in a timely manner, while displaying servant leadership. Manages the team in line with BD values.
- Runs the TMS cycle for the lines/areas and sets the 24‑hour direction for the manufacturing unit;
- Does yearly performance reviews of the team and ensures every individual has an active development plan in place and does regular 1:1s with each team member to review performance and help them to grow.
- Leads AM activities being responsible for creating of AM work processes (e.g., CIL, CL etc.)
- Facilitates other BDPS/CI activities and programs within the manufacturing unit.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to establish sterilization schedules, monitor delivery performance versus schedule.
- Ensures regular, timely, and accurate assessments of hourly associates are delivered through coaching activities.
- Works with associates to resolve issues and concerns; involves HR when needed.
- Builds his/her own mastery in the operation, people management and BDPS.
- Spends more than 50% of the time on the production floor overseeing activities within the manufacturing unit.
- Actively engages with plant Operational Excellence to identify opportunities for improvement and implement improvements or corrective actions
- Coordinate with business to compress lead time from factory to customer
- Other duties as required to support the needs of the business
- Bachelors degree in related field highly preferred
- Masters degree in related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience in a regulated environment required
