MATERIAL HANDLER - FORKLIFT | DETAILS AND COMPENSATION- Location:
Canaan, CT 06018 – 100% on-site - Payrate: $23/hr
- Required Availability:
Full-Time | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (C Crew – Rotating Schedule)
- Week 1:
Mon / Tue / Fri / Sat / Sun - Week 2:
Wed / Fri
The Material Handler is responsible for operating forklifts and other equipment to move materials, parts, and finished goods throughout a warehouse or production facility. The operator supports inventory and logistics processes while ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with established procedures. They work in a structured, metrics‑driven environment to complete routine tasks and maintain efficient operations.
- Position is a contract assignment with potential to hire permanently based upon attendance, performance, and business needs.
- Benefits are available to full‑time employees after 90 days of employment and include health, optical, dental, life, and short‑term disability insurance.
401(k) with a company match is available for full‑time employees with 1 year of service on eligibility dates.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Operate forklifts and other equipment to move materials, parts, and finished goods.
- Load, unload, and transport materials within the warehouse or production areas.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with inventory tracking.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality guidelines.
- Complete routine tasks using established processes and instructions.
- Work in a metrics‑driven environment to meet productivity goals.
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED (verifiable). - Attendance:
Commitment to mandatory attendance during the first 90 days. - 1 year of warehouse or related experience preferred.
- Prior forklift experience required.
- Ability to read, write, and understand documents in English.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently with general supervision.
- Ability to work a rotating schedule as outlined.
- Must be comfortable working in a physically active environment (standing, walking, lifting, bending, etc.).
- Frequent use of hands for handling materials and operating equipment.
- Must be able to meet productivity and performance expectations.
