The Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s Woodland Wellness Centre is inviting applications for the following Permanent Full-Time position based out of the Prevention & Recovery Department in La Ronge, SK
:

Support Worker – Prevention & Recovery

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:

  • Assist program staff in coordinating services and activities that support the developmental, cultural, emotional, and social needs of clients, including children, youth and families.
  • Help prepare materials, resources, and supplies for programming and community events (cultural activities, land-based outings, workshops, school-based sessions, etc.).
  • Support communication with families regarding upcoming programs, transportation needs, family evenings, and parent respite activities.
  • Contribute to creating safe, welcoming, and culturally grounded environments for children, youth, and caregivers during programming and community events.
  • Support program staff with scheduling, logistics, errands, and event preparation.
  • Participate in community wellness events, youth gatherings, cultural activities, and land-based programming (set-up, registration, materials, etc.).
  • Provide transportation for children, youth, and families to counselling, cultural activities, and approved programming.
  • Take lead on planning and coordinating Family Evening Programming, including activity preparation, scheduling, outreach, and set-up.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of the Parent Respite Program, ensuring activities are safe, child-centered, and supportive for families.
  • Help identify emerging needs from families and youth to inform program improvements.
  • Work collaboratively with the program coordinator, counsellors, wellness staff, Elders, and community partners to support holistic services.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas as the role continues to evolve based on community needs.
  • The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent;
  • Over 1-year experience in the family support services field is preferred;
  • Knowledge of parenting strategies, child development is preferred;
  • Knowledge of Woodlands Cree Culture, Traditions and healings;
  • Ability to counsel children, youth and adults;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience working with First Nations communities is an asset;
  • Ability to speak/understand Cree is an asset;
  • Must have a Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and own a reliable vehicle;
  • Must provide a satisfactory and recent;
    Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, & SGI Driver’s Abstract.
