About the Role The YMCA of Saskatoon is seeking a supportive, organized, and hands-on childcare professional to join our team as an On-Floor Supervisor at our Martensville Childcare Centre for a temporary maternity leave coverage position.
Reporting to the Childcare Centre Manager, the On-Floor Supervisor supports the day-to-day operation of the licensed childcare centre by maintaining a strong presence on the program floor, supporting educators, helping maintain required staff-to-child ratios, and ensuring classrooms operate safely and smoothly.
This role provides practical, day-to-day leadership to educators while also supporting licensing, safety, attendance, and classroom documentation requirements. The On-Floor Supervisor works directly within the program environment and provides classroom coverage as needed to support breaks, planning time, staffing needs, and operational continuity.
This position is a great opportunity for an experienced Early Childhood Educator who is interested in developing their leadership experience within a licensed childcare environment. Additional leadership opportunities may arise within the YMCA depending on organizational needs and position availability.
What You'll Do On-Floor Leadership & Program Support Maintain a consistent leadership presence on the childcare program floor.
Provide day-to-day guidance, support, and direction to educators.
Support smooth classroom operations and respond to emerging staffing or program needs.
Cover educator breaks, planning time, and documentation time while maintaining required staff-to-child ratios.
Work directly in ratio and provide classroom coverage as required.
Support consistent supervision practices and high-quality program delivery.
Assume designated Centre Manager responsibilities when the Childcare Centre Manager is away, including providing day-to-day leadership and responding to operational, staffing, safety, and family matters as required.
Help create a positive, inclusive, welcoming, and collaborative environment for children, families, and employees.
Safety & Compliance Coordinate and conduct monthly fire drills in accordance with licensing requirements and YMCA safety procedures.
Support the implementation of health, safety, supervision, and emergency procedures throughout the centre.
Monitor required safety documentation and ensure records are current and accessible.
Identify and communicate health, safety, or operational concerns to the Centre Manager.
Support compliance with Saskatchewan childcare licensing requirements and YMCA policies and procedures.
Licensing & Documentation Maintain Ministry attendance records and ensure required parent or caregiver signatures are collected.
Review classroom documentation for completeness and accuracy.
Ensure required regulatory and program records are current, organized, and maintained appropriately.
Assist with preparation for licensing visits and inspections.
Support educators in completing required classroom and regulatory documentation.
Classroom & Administrative Support Prepare and distribute classroom documentation, including sign-in sheets, diapering records, cleaning logs, allergy lists, and other required materials.
Support attendance tracking, record keeping, and classroom documentation processes.
Help maintain organized and consistent systems across classrooms.
Support the Centre Manager with day-to-day operational and administrative tasks as required.
Team Support Build positive and respectful working relationships with educators and other centre employees.
Provide practical coaching, guidance, and support to educators during daily operations.
Support communication between classrooms and centre leadership.
Help reinforce YMCA policies, procedures, and expectations.
Model YMCA values and contribute to a collaborative and accountable workplace culture.
Step into additional on-floor responsibilities as needed to support safe and effective centre operations.
What You Bring The successful candidate will have:
Early Childhood Educator certification recognized in Saskatchewan - ECE Level I, II, or III.
Experience working in a licensed childcare setting.
Knowledge of Saskatchewan childcare licensing requirements and health and safety standards.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to provide guidance and support to other educators.
Ability to work collaboratively with children, families, employees, and supervisors.
