CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER – Chu Níikwän Limited Partnership (CNLP)
CNLP is looking for a highly effective and collaborative leader who will work with the Board to realize CNLP’s vision to grow the equity and resources of Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) for the future benefit of all Beneficiaries’ and Citizens. The successful candidate will have had senior leadership experience driving growth in organizations, success partnering with all levels of government on a variety of capital projects, prior experience working with First Nation governments, a high degree of transparency and political acumen, and the ability to work cooperatively with a Board of Directors.
Chu Níikwän Limited Partnership (CNLP) is the economic arm of Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN). Our mission is to make strategic investment decisions to generate long-term wealth that benefits our Beneficiaries and Citizens – our shareholders.
Chu Níikwän owns and operates Canyon City Construction LP, Whitehorse Properties LP, and Eagle Hill Energy LP.
The Opportunity:
The CEO will provide strategic leadership for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all CNLP companies, which includes business development, operations, financial management, short- and long-term planning, health and safety, environment, and human resources. They will lead and direct corporate goals, business plans, and strategies to ensure the effective planning and delivery of projects to achieve the corporate mandate. In addition, they will develop a long-term forecast and strategy related to CNLP’s financial requirements.
As the senior leader, the CEO will contribute to the vision, mission, and values of CNLP through responsible, accountable, and effective work performance. The CEO will work closely with the Board to ensure strategic plans are implemented, growth opportunities are assessed in a timely manner, and CNLP is recognized as an active partner within the growth of the Yukon.
This is a small and growing organization, and the CEO position is a hands-on leadership role. In addition to working with the Board, it also has to have a strong collaborative relationship with the Executive Director at KDFN.
Requirements:
Providing strategic leadership to the organization, the CEO will foster a high performing and collaborative culture that supports exceptional organizational performance and partnership. A construction background would be beneficial, as is proven success partnering with all levels of government on capital projects, experience working with First Nation governments, a high degree of transparency and political acumen, and the ability to work cooperatively with diverse partners and the Board of Directors.
Key Experiential Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related field is required, or relevant previous experience; OR Red Seal Trades certification
Substantial management and leadership experience gained through 10 or more years progressively responsible assignments with a track record of success.
Experience working within the construction industry is preferred
Experience working collaboratively with First Nation governments delivering on large capital projects.
Knowledge of the energy industry and property management would be highly beneficial.
A proven track record and commitment to safe procedures and encouraging a safe work environment.
Competencies

Compelling written and oral communication skills – can develop and present reports and proposals, and can engage with a diverse set of audiences.
Ability to nurture and maintain effective relationships among various community and/or external groups.
An excellent motivator in a wide range of circumstances and diverse situations.
Politically astute – able to work with multiple levels of government, along with KDFN.
Ethical and demonstrates a commitment to KDFN values and priorities.
Awareness of, or lived experience regarding, the realities of living in a northern territory.
Prospects from Yukon First Nations are desirable, but all applicants will be evaluated on an equal basis.
