The Mine Superintendent is responsible for coordinating and overseeing daily mine development activities while ensuring all work is conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and client standards. The Mine Superintendent reports directly to the General Manager and provides regular operational updates and daily reports.
This role is responsible for leading and supporting crews by assigning job-specific tasks, monitoring progress, and arranging or providing training when required. The Mine Superintendent plays a key role in maintaining productivity, safety, and effective communication across all operations.
Qualifications
- Ontario Basic Underground Hard Rock Front Line Supervisor Transcript
- Minimum of 3 years of management experience
- Minimum of 8–10 years of underground mining experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of underground production equipment
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Client-approved site access
Scope and Responsibilities
- Maintain a comprehensive safety program in conjunction with the Safety and Training Department
- Advise management of unsafe conditions, hazards, or work practices
- Ensure workers possess the necessary experience and competency to safely and effectively perform assigned tasks
- Schedule and lead daily line-up meetings to ensure efficient utilization of personnel, equipment, materials, and resources
- Work closely with Human Resources regarding hiring needs, terminations, layoffs, and personnel changes
- Notify Payroll of position changes, rate adjustments, terminations, layoffs, and employee information updates such as contact or address changes
- Actively participate in investigations involving fatalities, lost-time incidents, and high-potential occurrences
- Participate in formal planned inspections
- Ensure completion of accident investigation reports, inspections, job observations, and 5-Point Safety Cards, and forward documentation to the appropriate personnel in accordance with Manroc standards
