Adecco is currently hiring a full-time experienced Health & Safety Specialist to lead safety programs, regulatory compliance, emergency preparedness, and risk-mitigation initiatives across our client's operations in Gold River, BC. This role supports both field and office environments and plays a key part in strengthening our safety culture, ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations, and supporting emergency management activities.
This role requires indigenous community experience.
You should be proactive, detail-oriented, and confident making decisions in dynamic or high-pressure situations.
- Pay Rate: up to $85,000/year (based on experience)
- Location: Gold River, BC

- Conduct field and office inspections, site visits, and risk assessments.
- Recommend hazard controls and verify corrective actions.
- Maintain OHS compliance through policies, safe work procedures, audits, and reporting.
- Enforce proper PPE and equipment use.
- Deliver orientations, safety training, toolbox talks, and coordinate drills and exercises.
- Track First Aid coverage and safety certifications; coordinate renewals.
- Investigate incidents and near misses; complete root-cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
- Advise and support the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee (JOHSC).
- Assist with WorkSafeBC claims and return to work planning with HR and managers.
- Develop and maintain emergency response and evacuation plans; work with emergency services and partner agencies.
- Support the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), including meeting coordination, equipment inventory, and annual plan updates.
- Monitor threats to their lands (e.g., wildfire) and communicate prevention and risk information.
- Lead staff and community safety workshops and promote a strong safety culture.
- Identify funding opportunities and support grant proposals related to safety and emergency preparedness.
- Develop and maintain safety protocols for fleet and vessel operations.
- Diploma/degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field, or equivalent education/training/experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in safety, emergency management, inspections, investigations, or training.
- Strong knowledge of BC OHS regulations, federal/provincial legislation, and WorkSafeBC processes.
- Experience delivering safety programs, prevention initiatives, and safety culture improvements; community engagement is an asset.
- IMS/ICS experience and emergency management training preferred.
- Strong analytical, communication, and facilitation skills; able to work with diverse groups.
- Confident decision-making in complex or high-pressure situations.
- Proficiency with MS Office and strong documentation skills.
- Valid driver's license and recent RCMP clearance (within 12 months).
- Ability to work indoors/outdoors and visit field locations; occasional travel and afterhours response may be required.
- Requires indigenous community experience.
