About the Role

The Emergency Response Coordinator provides strategic and operational leadership for all emergency preparedness and response activities on site. This role ensures that International SOS and client requirements are met through effective planning, training, equipment readiness, and incident coordination. The ERC serves as the primary point of contact for the client, oversees daily operations, develops and maintains emergency response capability, and leads unified response efforts during incidents to protect people, the environment, and assets.

This role oversees a team of six auxiliary emergency response technicians as direct reports. This is a 2 week on / 2 week off fly-in/fly-out position based on an industrial site near Lynn Lake, Manitoba. Shifts are 12 hours (7:00 am until 7:00 pm). Full travel coverage and camp accommodations are provided.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the on‑site lead and primary point of contact for the client on all operational matters, escalating issues to the International SOS Operations Manager when required.
  • Maintain strong client relationships by ensuring customer satisfaction, fostering trust, and demonstrating a professional and solution‑focused approach in all interactions.
  • Ensure day‑to‑day operations are carried out in accordance with contractual agreements.
  • Provide strategic and technical expertise, as well as management and direction, in line with departmental and operational requirements, including the implementation of International SOS and client policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly meetings with the site team, client, and International SOS as per the agreed schedule.
  • Maintain all documentation required to support operational activities, including inventory and administrative records.
  • Apply the L3 Quality Management System in all daily activities.
  • Actively participate in key Quality Management processes, including site audits, monthly quality and safety calls, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, schedule, and implement a comprehensive training program for the auxiliary emergency response team, including establishing a training schedule, organizing equipment and training props, developing lesson plans, delivering training sessions, and maintaining training records.
  • Provide strategic oversight of all emergency preparedness and response activities to ensure alignment with contractual obligations, client expectations, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • During an emergency, respond to the scene and provide leadership to the auxiliary emergency response team while requesting and coordinating additional resources when required.
  • Monitor and evaluate emergency response performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure all emergency response activities are conducted in compliance with International SOS policies and standards, client requirements, and applicable legislation.
  • Collaborate with client and external agencies to enhance site‑wide emergency preparedness, mutual aid agreements, and interoperability.
  • Provide after‑action reporting and analysis following emergency incidents or exercises, ensuring lessons learned are documented and incorporated into future planning.
  • Develop tactical emergency response plans tailored to the specific hazards and risks of the work site.
  • Develop and implement a structured inspection and maintenance program for all emergency response vehicles and equipment.
