Position: Summer Community Development Associate Role

The Southern Gulf Islands Community Resource Centre is seeking a Community Development Associate for summer programs focused on local food security and youth engagement. Gain practical experience in sustainability and nonprofit operations.

This eight-week position supports food initiatives, youth outreach, and environmental protection across the islands. As a Community Development Associate, you will coordinate events, foster relationships with local stakeholders, and assist with impactful community projects. Contribute to promoting sustainability and build essential skills in community development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate Co-op Sales Table at Farmers Market

• Liaise with community hall managers for event success

• Promote local food initiatives on social media

• Support youth and volunteer outreach efforts

• Collect and report program participation data

Requirements:

• Ages 15-30 at employment start date

• Canadian citizen or permanent resident

• Valid Social Insurance Number required

• Interest in community development and sustainability

• Willingness to support diverse community initiatives
