Overview
The Pastor provides spiritual and pastoral leadership to the people of Aylmer Baptist Church (ABC). They serve as the spiritual leader and chief administrator of the congregation so that it can fulfill its mission and purpose as the body of Christ. They will preach, teach, mentor, coach, counsel, and equip the members of ABC and give primary leadership in the ministries of worship, discipleship, congressional care (fellowship), integral missions, and church administration.
Time Commitment
The position requires great flexibility in hours available for work, including evening and weekends. It is a full‑time position. In general, Monday’s are off. See employment contract for details related to vacation and study leave entitlement.
Church and Community Overview
Aylmer Baptist Church is located in the town centre of Aylmer, Ontario, 30 minutes south of London and 15 minutes east of St. Thomas. It is a congregation of about 125, with an average weekly attendance of 75. Although an aging congregation, it remains active in ministry within the church and local community. The church offers weekly sociables (seniors), Club B- (youth), a monthly men’s breakfast, cast offs, summer fire pit gatherings, choir, handbell choir, and band.
Outreach ministries include community meals, snack program, ministries to seniors residences, and active participation in the Aylmer ministerial. The worship style is traditional with a more blended approach. The ministry team includes a part‑time administrative assistant, director of music, and custodian.
Affiliated with the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec and Canadian Baptist Ministries. Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience and aligned with Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec guidelines.

Qualifications and Education
Masters of Divinity or equivalent from an accredited institution; or in the final year of studies toward completion of such a degree.
Accredited with the CBOQ or willing to enter into the accreditation process.

Role and Responsibilities
Church Leadership & Administration (25%)
Provide visionary leadership for the church.
Act as the primary spokesperson for the church’s ministries and work with relevant boards and committees in developing plans for ministry and church growth.
Oversee the work of the Music Director and the Administrative Assistant, developing and motivating staff and ensuring healthy interpersonal dynamics among the staff and between the various ministries of the church.
Worship (30%)
Oversee and coordinate all worship services, working in collaboration with the Worship Planning Committee.
Discipleship (15%)
Be responsible for overseeing the “equipping of the saints” for the work of ministry, in collaboration with the Board of Deacons, the CE/Missions Committee, and the Sunday School Superintendent.
Congregational Care (Fellowship) (15%)
Work with the Board of Deacons, the Visitation Committee, and Prayer Team to provide for congregational care of members and adherents.
Integral Mission (15%)
Collaborate with the Board of Deacons and the CE/Mission Committee in advancing the community outreach ministries of the church.
Research, survey, and evaluate the local community to determine what outreach ministries are most needed and if existing ministries are effective.
Work with Board of Deacons and church committees to develop new ministries as needed.
