Overview Cultural Facilitator —
REPORTS TO:
Band Manager
TERM: Full-Time, Permanent upon Successful completion of probation
SALARY RANGE: $30.97 to $34.47/hr
The Cultural Facilitator will guide and engage families, children, youth and community members in cultural activities promoting spiritual healing and wellness in a supportive and ethical manner the Cultural Facilitator also provides opportunities to share knowledge of Ojibwe culture, tradition, history and protocols.
Responsibilities Develop programming that is based on cultural programs, in connection to the land
Provide opportunities for traditional learning
Coordinate Sharing/Learning Circles as required
Promotes and supports traditional Zhiibaahaasing First Nation cultural teachings and practices for families, community and staff
Coordinate the planning for cultural knowledge and activities
Support the planning of traditional dancing, singing, drumming, community and/or seasoned celebrations/feasts, traditional and social events
Provide administrative and program support to the departmental committees, as required
Plan, Coordinate, and facilitate cultural workshops, ceremonies, and teachings
Facilitate hands-on cultural workshops, circles, and land base learning such as traditional crafts, songs, drumming, medicines and ceremonies
Adapt facilitation methods to suit different groups, including youth, adult, and families
Provide cultural insights to departments within Zhiibaahaasing First Nation with the development of policies of laws
Facilitate and participate in ceremonies
Facilitate traditional ceremonies such as smudging, sweat lodges, feasts, pipe ceremonies, naming ceremonies, and seasonal celebrations
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Excellent communication skills
Ability to work independently, professionally, friendly, and open-minded
Strong experience in interacting with First Nations and communities
Working Conditions Evenings, Weekend work and travel may be required at times
Will be required to work indoors and outdoors
