Part-Time Café Assistant | Rock Island, IL

IMEG is hiring a Café Assistant in Rock Island, Illinois, to prepare and serve specialty coffee, beverages, and food items for patrons of the IMEG 623 Café. This part-time position plays an important role in delivering a welcoming café experience through quality service and daily food and beverage support.

Principal Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve beverages, such as coffee, blended coffee, and tea, to patrons; customize orders as requested

• Prepare and serve foods and baked goods including sandwiches, salads, wraps, cookies, soups, along with in-house catering and deliveries

• Receive and process customer payments, run register and handle cash balances

• Stock supplies or retail products, inventory, and orders as directed

• Clean and sanitize all equipment, utensils, dishes, and work areas

• Clean and sanitize service and seating areas

• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Must successfully complete training in food preparation, food service skills, and customer service procedures

• Sponsorship is not available for this position

• Excellent verbal communication skills

• Ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices

• Ability to manage multiple orders while multitasking other aspects of the café

• Ability to serve customers quickly, efficiently, and kindly

• Regularly required to stand, walk, and lift objects

• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times

• Must be available to work early mornings and day shift

• Must have reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and insurance
